Queens: Borden Avenue - Vernon Boulevard
Borden Avenue, west from Vernon Boulevard, seen across the Long Island Railroad yards. The buildings are old tenements and are on the north side of the avenue, extending west to the East River. In the center, next to a pair of shacks, is the 4-story building of the Long Island Railroad branch of the Y.M.C.A. at the N.W. corner of Fifth Street. Across the latter is the Pennsylvania Railroad power house, at 51st Avenue and Second Street. The mid-Manhattan skyline, with the Chrysler building prominently visible, is in the background. View 2 shows the north side of the avenue. On the left is the Empire State Building. View 3 shows the south side of the avenue and the old Long Island City railroad station, on 2nd Street. P. L.
