Manhattan: Park Avenue - 36th Street

Park Avenue, north from 36th Street, showing west side of the Avenue. On the S.W. corner of 37th Street may be seen the new Union League clubhouse, and behind it the New York Trust Company's skyscraper is nearing completion on the S.E. corner of Madison Avenue and 40th Street. Close together and a little to the right of this are the Lefcourt Colonial Building at 41st Street and the Lincoln Building at 60 East 42nd Street (both 1929). On the west side of Park Avenue, from 41st to 42nd Streets the Hotel Belmont, shortly to be demolished, rises behind the much older Murray Hill Hotel. The New York Central Building (1928) rises behind the Grand Central Station, at the head of the Avenue. To the right of the former may be seen the towers of the new Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on the east side of Park Avenue, from 49th to 50th Streets; it is still under construction, and they are surrounded by scaffolding.
