Manhattan: Park Avenue - 36th Street

Park Avenue, west side, from 36th to 39th Streets, showing skyscrapers in the background. On the S.W. corner of 37th Street stands the new Union League clubhouse. The rear of the buildings on the east side of Madison Avenue, from 37th to 38th Streets, are plainly visible; from south to north the are: the old Delmar residence, occupied by the National Democratic Club, the Hotel Duane in the middle of the block, and the Allerton Fraternity Clubs Building occupying the S.E. corner of 38th Street and Madison Avenue where the old South Church used to stand. To the left of this, on the S.W. corner of Madison Avenue and 38th Street, stands the old Heckscher building, erected 1916 on the site of the Theodore A. Havemeyer mansion. The five skyscrapers, from left to right, are No. 10 East 40th Street (1928), 500 Fifth Avenue at the N.W. corner of 42nd Street (1930), the New York Trust Company's tower nearing completion on the S.E. corner of Madison and 40th Street, the Lefcourt Colonial Building at the N.W. corner of Madison Avenue and 41st Street, and the Lincoln Building at 60 East 42nd Street, both the latter completed in 1929.
