Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 69th Street

5th Avenue, east side, at E. 69th Street, showing private dwellings at both the N.E. and S.E. corners. These in order are (or were) the Adolph Lewisohn (No.881), the E.H. Harriman (No. 1 E. 69th Street), the Ogden Mills (No.877) and the Daniel J. Leary (No. 876) homes. The N.Y. Herald Tribune of Sunday, June 18, 1939 carries a photo and an article reporting the details of the proposed replacement with an apartment house of the Harriman and possibly the Lewisohn homes. Sir John Mactaggart, a Scottish builder purchased the former 5 years ago and is about to proceed with plans for this site.
