Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 40th Street

Madison Avenue, north from and including 40th Street, showing the newly erected Johns Manville Building on the S.W. corner of 41st Street. The houses on the N.W. corner of 41st Street will be demolished in 1919. The Manhattan Hotel is shown on the N.W. corner of 42nd Street; opposite it on the southwest corner the Central Trust or Union Carbide building will be erected about 1914. Part of old St. Bartholomew's Church, to be demolished in 1919, may be seen beyond on the S.W. corner of 44th Street. The buildings on the N.E. corner of 40th Street will stand till nearly 1925.
