Manhattan: 6th Avenue - 49th Street (West)

Sixth Avenue, east side, at W. 49th Street, as viewed from the rear. The photographer's vantage point is W. 50th Street; direction being southwestward. The cleared area in the foreground (50th - 49th Sts.) will be the site of the 70 storied R. C. A. Building. On the block below, the Center Theatre will be erected. Several years later (1940) the adjoining U. S. Rubber Co. Building will rise at the left far corner. Above this block front towers the clock tower atop the Paramount Building at Times Square. View 2 is limited to the R. C. A. Building site. Note 6th Avenue appearing thru the remaining buildings. The "El" line there upon will be removed in 1938-9.
