Manhattan: University Place - 8th Street
University Place, north on east side, from 8th Street, showing old 31-33 East 8th Street (formerly 41-39 Clinton Place), the Hotel Lafayette (formerly Hotel Martin) on the S.E. corner of 9th Street, the newly erected Devonshire House on the S.E. corner of 10th Street (site of University Place Presbyterian Church, 1845-1927), and the Hotel Albert at and adjoining the S.E. corner of 11th Street. The newer part of the Albert is the 11-story building (about 1906) in the middle of the block. The 11-story loft building on the N.E. corner of 11th Street, built after 1902, occupies the site of old Union Court, a little private street within the block. February 12, 1928. P. L. Sperr.
