Manhattan: 6th Avenue - 42nd Street (West)

Sixth Avenue, at West 42nd Street, showing final aspects of the Sixth Avenue "El" prior to demolition. The photographer, in both of these views, is standing on the downtown platform and is viewing northeastward. No. 1 shows the fore-end of a downtown train and a news-reel photographer making the last journey. No. 2 shows a work train accumulating the wood benches that were a familiar furnishing of every station. The buildings in the background, line the east side of Sixth Avenue, north from 42nd Street.
