Manhattan: Broadway - 42nd Street

Broadway, west side, from 42nd to 45th Streets. At the left, construction work on the New York Times Building is under way. At 43rd Street is the Hotel Cadillac, and above it is Rector's, which, along with the corner building at 44th Street, will soon be replaced by the Hotel Claridge. From 44th to 45th Streets are the Criterion and New York theatres. The building which they occupy, which at the time of this picture is called the Crystal Gardens, will be demolished in 1935. Broadway is badly torn up from subway construction, which is nearly completed. 1903. Brown Brothers.
