Manhattan: Park Avenue - 32nd Street
Park Avenue, east side, north from 32nd Street, showing the New York Central building over the roof of the Grand Central Station. The two blocks from 32nd to 34th Streets began to be called Park Avenue upon completion of the new buildings No. 1 and No. 2 Park Avenue, between 32nd and 33rd Street, in 1926-27. No. 2 is shown here in the left foreground, on the site of the old Park Avenue Hotel. The block from 33rd to 34th Street is occupied by the Vanderbilt Hotel (1911). At the N. W. corner of 34th Street is the Community Church (Unitarian), shortly to be demolished. On the S. W. corner of 37th Street the Union League Club's new house is nearing completion. To the left of the Grand Central Station stands the Hotel Belmont, on the west side, from 41st Street to 42nd Street. Built about 1904, it is shortly to be demolished. To the left of it rises the tall Lincoln Building, 60 East 42nd Street, and directly in front of it may be seen the old Murray Hill Hotel, between 40th and 41st Streets.
