Manhattan: Park Avenue - 40th Street

Park Avenue, north from 40th Street, showing the Grand Central Station as rebuilt during the years around 1910, the Pershing Square Viaduct conducting motor vehicles from 40th to 46th Streets, and the demolition of the Hotel Belmont on the west side of the Avenue from 41st to 42nd Streets. The New York Central Building (1928) at 46th Street is seen over the roof of the Station. Underneath the station clock, in front of the large window and facing south on the Viaduct, may be seen the statue of Commodore Vanderbilt, who built up the New York Central Railroad system.
