Manhattan: 42nd Street - Vanderbilt Avenue

East 42nd Street at the N.E. corner of Vanderbilt Ave. Grand Central Station, Park Avenue at 42nd Street, showing the new automobile viaduct, which in this view seems only recently completed. If that is true, then the new Interborough Subway lines have just been opened (notice passengers from the new Grand Central express station coming up to the street in the foreground), the name Pershing Square for this block has just been suggested by John M. Bowman, and not yet officially adopted, General Pershing is still distinguishing himself in the War, and this is Summer, 1918.
