Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 41st Street

297 Madison Avenue at S.E. corner of 41st Street: the old Thompson Mansion in the block belonging to the Estate of Mary Clark Thompson. Prior to its occupation by Frederick Fox and Company it was used for a while by the Aero Club. This picture should be compared with a later view (1924) showing the building remodelled, and also showing 277 Madison Avenue, adjoining, with the stoop removed. In 1929 the two houses will be demolished, and the tower of the Lefcourt Colonial Building will rise from this corner. The remainder of the block down to the corner of 40th Street, will be demolished in 1925. About 1922. Morris Rosenfeld, Photographer. Gift of E. M. Jenks.
