Queens: 27th Avenue - 4th Street

27th Ave., south side, east from 4th Street. The Astoria Presbyterian Church, whose congregation was organized in 1846, laid the cornerstone of this church on November 30th of the same year. In 1848 it was dedicated to the service of God; and in 1857 was enlarged. Rev. Stead was at one time its rector. The church was demolished in 1928 and buildings Nos. 4-14 to 4-24 are on the site. However, the Beers Atlas of Long Island does not show a church on this site in 1873. 1922. Eugene L. Ambruster Collection.
