Manhattan: 6th Avenue - Washington Place

Sixth Avenue, north from a point between Washington and Waverly Places and across the latter (in View 1; north from Waverly Place in View 2) showing prominently the "El" demolition which has progressed to this point. The West 8th Street station of same appears in a skeletal condition against the new Detention House for Women and the clock tower of the Jefferson Market Court. The iron work shack and lot on the right of View 2 are being utilized by subway contractors who are building, at this date, a new subway under the thoroughfare. January 25, 1939 P. L. Sperr
