Manhattan: 53rd Street (West) - 5th Avenue

(1) West 53rd Street, west from Fifth Ave. and showing several clearances on the south side of the street necessitated by the Subway construction (Sixth Ave. line) under this point; same veering eastward from Sixth Ave. At the right is St. Thomas P.E. Church with another demolition (formerly the Museum of Modern Art) just beyond. Upon this latter clearance will rise a new and larger Museum which will include the Rockefeller properties on 54th Street. March 19, 1938. P. L. Sperr.
