Manhattan: Stuyvesant Place - 2nd Avenue

(1) Stuyvesant Street, at the N.W. corner of Second Avenue, showing St. Mark's Protestant Episcopal Church, also known as St. Mark's in the Bowery. It was erected in 1795 and is the second oldest church edifice in Manhattan, standing on the site, where once stood the chapel built by Peter Stuyvesant, the last of the Dutch Governors whose bones rest beneath its floor.
