Manhattan: Spring Street - Hudson Street
Spring Street, west from and including Hudson Street, during the early stages of excavating for the westbound tube of the Holland Vehicular Tunnel, work on which began the previous October. Now they are getting ready to take up the water mains. On the south side, notice the old houses between Hudson and Renwick Streets. No. 298, adjoining the Hudson Street corner, and Nos. 302-306, adjoining and at the Renwick Street corner are frame houses faced with brick. On the Cornell & Underhill warehouse at 311 Spring Street, on the north side, notice the flag at half mast. This picture must have been taken just after the death of President Harding. Early August, 1923.
