Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 52nd Street (West)

Fifth Avenue, west side, from West 52nd (left), to 53rd (right) Streets, viewed northwestward from the S. E. corner of the Avenue and East 52nd Street. View No. 2 shows solely the six story office structure, No. 670 Fifth Avenue, and is photographed from the N. E. corner of 53rd Street. Under demolition in View 1 is the six story residence of William K. Vanderbilt Jr. An eleven story building was erected here, continuing the old number, 666 Fifth Avenue. To the left are two buildings that together replaced the palatial, former residence of Wm. K. Vanderbilt Sr. This stood at the N. W. corner of 52nd Street. To the right is the aforementioned No. 670 Fifth Avenue. Prior to 1904, this site was equally divided between the four story homes of Almy G. Gallatin (No. 670) and E. F. Coe (No. 668). Note there, the partial glimpse of the corner tower of St. Thomas P. E. Church. This edifice is at the N. W. corner of Fifth Avenue and West 53rd Street. P. L.
