Manhattan: Houston Street (East) - Chrystie Street

(1) 105-109 East Houston Street, south side, between the Bowery and Chrystie Street, showing St. Augustine's Chapel (Trinity Parish). It is one of the striking architectural features of the city and is a Chapel of Old Trinity, erected in 1876. It has two main parts, a mission house and the church proper. The five floors of the mission house contain a large hall, school, guild-rooms and a parish room. The work is almost entirely among the indigent classes of the neighborhood. Besides a Sunday-school, it has a day school for boys and a night school for both men and women; giving instruction in sewing and cooking. March 13, 1932. P. L. Sperr.
