Manhattan: 78th Street (East) - 5th Avenue.

4 East 78th Street, south side, east of Fifth Avenue (right). Adjacent to the brownstone enumerated is a clearance that forms an "El" to provide a frontage on the Avenue, between 78th and 78th Streets. The apartment house to rise here is the Kensington. The former home of Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff stood here from about 1901. Occupying the corner locations are the 16 story No. 960 Fifth Avenue and the darker 15.story No. 969. The latter is of recent construction, the former dating from 1926 when the mansion of Senator Wm. A. Clark was razed. This structure was of contemporary erection to the Schiff home.
