Manhattan: Gramercy Park South - Irving Place

Gramercy Park South (extreme foreground) north side, at the head of Irving Place, showing the main gate entrance to Gramercy Park and a view northward of Lexington Ave. from its commencement point at Gramercy Park North. The 16-story building, on the left is the Hotel Gramercy Park at the N.W. corner of Gramercy Park North and Lexington Ave. and bearing Nos. 52 and 2, respectively on the above mentioned two streets. On the right is the 12-story building No. 1 Lexington Ave. Also shown in the center of the Park is a statue of Edwin Booth in the role of Hamlet. It was sculptured by Edmond T. Quinn in commemoration of the great Shakes- pearean actor who lived in this area. About 1932. Ewing Galloway.
