Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 24th Street (East)

Madison Square Presbyterian Church, Madison Avenue at N. E. corner of 24th Street, built by Hokis, Head & White from designs by Stanford White, and dedicated on October 14, 1906. It succeeded a brownstone steepled Church which stood on the S.E. corner and was then being removed to make room for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Building Tower. The new church was demolished in 1919 and gave place to the Metropolitan Annex (1920). The Corinthian columns across the front of the church were sent to Hartford, Conn; and from part of the facade of the new building of the Hartford Times.
