Manhattan: West Street - Spring Street

New Freight Terminal Dedicated. The New York Central's New St. John's Park Freight Terminal in Spring Street on the West Side of New York City, was formally dedicated June 28th with officials of the State, city and railroad present at the exercises. The new freight terminal is part of the railroad's West Side improvement project. The above photo shows eight tracks entering St. John's Park terminal with present facilities for about 150 cars. Rolling Steel doors at entrance are Guarded by red and green signal lights. This building occupies three city blocks at present, and will later be extended four hundred feet, making it with the extension and the addition of nine stories more in height on one of the largest buildings in the world.
